After graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in advertising management, Hopkins kept in touch with her advisors at Meridian Entertainment and her persistence landed her a job as a talent buyer there.

“My biggest challenge after graduating was finding a job, I would spend hours filling out job applications, but ultimately what helped me land a job was the fact that I stayed in touch with the directors from my internship. I always reached out and said, ‘hey Merry Christmas, I’m looking for a job by the way’ and it end up working in my favor.”

Hopkins has been using her position at Meridian to provide internship opportunities for MSU students in the Department of AD+PR.

“The ideal intern for Meridian Entertainment is someone who is self-motivated and works well in a hands-on environment,” said Hopkins. “When I’m searching for interns, I’m looking for someone who isn’t afraid to take initiative and do things on their own.”

Meridian Entertain has continuous positions open for interns at their Lansing location, there are usually about 10-12 interns at a time. At Meridian, students have the opportunity to be hands-on in the production of events and concerts. Meridian interns write press releases, coordinate interviews between artists and multiple media partners, research artist availability, amend contracts, and more.
