In 2020, MSU’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations introduced a student-run, faculty-guided integrated marketing communication agency, 42pointSEVEN to give students the opportunity to apply their coursework and work with real clients.
When the agency began during the COVID-19 pandemic, most agency meetings were held on ZOOM. Three years later, the agency team past and present celebrated the grand opening of their new home, a bold and innovative space in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building.

The Sept. 22, 2023 event began with a presentation given by faculty and design team members followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

During the presentation, ADPR instructor and former 42pointSEVEN director, Alexandrea Stanley, shared her excitement about going from ZOOM calls, to a “college chic” space, to their brand-new space. She went on to say how the new space has sparked even more excitement and pride from the student team. To date, the student teams have generated award-winning work for a range of clients, from local nonprofits to international brands.

Following the presentations, attendees including faculty, alumni and agency donors, were brought to the new home of 42pointSEVEN to witness the ribbon-cutting. The first floor of the Communication Arts and Sciences Building was warmly decorated with favors including Spartan “S” cookies and ComArtSci cups. The big green ribbon was cut by JRT Construction designer, Sandy Stone, and guests were invited to mingle in the new space.

The new studio is modern, bright and innovative. It contains many valuable features including new computers, tablets, TVs and more. A space like this will allow the student-led team, including senior art director, Hannah Ruddy, much more room to follow their agency mantra of “do it right, do it great, and do it together.”
