PR Grad, Clare Miller, Uses Social Media Skills to Land Internships and Ambassadorships

By: Billy Couturier
2025 public relations graduate, Clare Miller is an avid social media user who has applied her skills from the classroom to the real world. During her time as a student, Miller held multiple internships, gained brand deals, and worked with campus resources to help build her resume and portfolio. Miller has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands like Fenty Beauty and Valentino.
With the classes she has taken, Miller says she is now able to showcase the skills learned in the classroom to her personal social media pages. Some of the work Miller was able to do was with huge brands like Fenty Beauty and Valentino, was made possible thanks to the skills she gained at MSU.

“Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin was cool, this one was where I went through an extensive interview process that only a select amount of people across the United States got. It was cool to help them create a PR campaign,” Miller said.
As a student versus influencer, Miller says she never dreamed she would be able to test out luxury brand products and review them for free. Miller has gained many of these opportunities simply by reaching out to fellow AD+PR Spartans and alumni.
“There’s been numerous times where I’ve reached out to people who have had cool jobs or cool ambassadorships, I will reach out and say how did you hear about this? A lot of the time they’ll post on LinkedIn, I was able to use the resources to find future internships from that,” said Miller
In addition to her social media work, Miller also works with an organization called HerCampus as a Campus Trendsetter and a College Fashionista. HerCampus does product trials and reviews to the next level by providing members the opportunity to partner with brands by sharing samples with friends who are involved in the same student organizations they are. She had the opportunity to work with several different companies to promote products on her social media platforms and at some of the registered student organizations.
“They end up sending products and then you post about it, create videos about the brands,” said Miller.
Miller encourages students to learn more about social media and the power it holds within the world of AD+PR. To explore opportunities like Miller’s, check out HerCampus, LinkedIn or Handshake
