MSU alumna, Juliana Romero, graduated with a bachelor’s in advertising management and double minor in public relations and sports business management. Romero says she chose to major in advertising management because she wanted to learn how to communicate more effectively with people and explore her creativity.

“Advertising and public relations is not going away anytime soon the industry is always growing and I find it fun and exciting,” said Romero.

After graduating in 2022, Romero was hired as a business developer for a Sales and Graduate Development Program with the software company, Dassault Systems in Boston.

Before Romero got accepted into Dassault’s Systems graduate program, she was applying for jobs all over the Midwest and East Coast. She applied the skills she learned in ADPR to help her through the process that many graduates go through while looking for a job. One of the skills she learned was how to network with her professors, guest speakers and fellow classmates.

“It’s never about what you know, it’s about who you know,” said Romero.

Degrees in ADPR prepare students with not only with hard skills like writing and designing, but soft skills like networking and leadership.

“Being the example for others and taking the initiative may not always feel comfortable, but you’re always learning and growing from doing it,” said Romero.

Romero says that while job interviews can be stressful no matter what company or position you are applying for, MSU students can prepare and perform by connecting questions back to what they learned in their courses.

“Job interviewers love that you can take something away from what you learned in MSU AD+PR and apply it professionally,” said Romero. “It shows how it got me to where I am today.”
