About the FS20 Editorial Team

“The Brief” is a collection of stories — from Spartan features to campus events — focusing on the Department of Advertising + Public Relations at Michigan State University. Our mission is to connect past and present Spartans with the Department of AD + PR.

Carolyn Berg is a senior majoring in communications with a social influence concentration and a minor in public relations. She is an ambitious person that utilizes creative ways to communicate and connect with others. Berg thrives on human interaction and enjoys planning events. In her free time, she enjoy exploring the outdoors, volunteering, traveling and being active.

Bradley Cholette is a junior studying public relations and sales. He has a love for public relations and looks to strengthen his skills and create more connections while writing for The Brief. Having a love for sports, he is seeking a career in public relations on the professional franchise-level upon his graduation.

Maddy Gun is a junior studying advertising management with a minor in public relations. After graduation, she hopes to work for an advertising agency in the entertainment industry.

Grace Hess is videography/photography intern for The Brief, and a senior majoring in creative advertising with an art direction/design specialization. Hess will graduate in December 2020. She hopes to work in corporate communications and expand the everyday use of digital media and the art of advertising.

Lindsey Hyams is a sophomore majoring in public relations and journalism with a focus in media relations. Her goals after graduation include getting a job in PR in the beauty and fashion industry or working in sports media.

Chris Hybels is a graduate student studying advertising and public relations. He is also a marketing & development intern at Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Hadley Kerr is a senior majoring in advertising management and minoring in public relations and graphic design. After graduation, Kerr aspires to work at a public relations agency specializing in health care. In her free time, she enjoys exercising and cooking.

Kaitlyn Kramer is pursuing a degree in media and information with a concentration in human centered technology and a minor in public relations. Kramer will graduate in May 2021. She hopes to work in an integrated marketing role with a focus on digital innovation.

Max Moore is a senior studying advertising management, with a concentration in public relations. He was an intern at Havas, an advertising and media agency in Chicago, and spent a week working in Monte Verde, Costa Rica through Alternative Spring Break Michigan State. He hopes to combine his passion for advertising, brand messaging and writing with his devotion to making people smile.

Amanda Vasas teaches ADV 492: Practical Guide to Storytelling; her students make up the editorial team for The Brief.

Amber Cooper is a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in advertising management with a minor in public relations. After graduation, Cooper hopes to do PR work in the entertainment or beauty industries. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hanging out with friends and doing nails.

Sierra Hole is a junior majoring in advertising management with minors in public relations and graphic design. Her goals after graduating college include traveling and getting a job at an advertising agency.

Logan Hoover is a sophomore studying creative advertising and plans to minor in public relations. She hopes to gain more experience through her writing for The Brief. She spends her free time creating art, writing, and being with friends and family.

Haley Klein is a senior studying communication with a minor in public relations. She hopes to pursue a career in public relations in a big city after graduation in May 2020.

Anna Kuchiyash is an advertising management senior, and public relations and Russian minor from Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. She is interested in digital marketing and analytics, and has experience in social media marketing at MSU’s Russian Club and grassroots campaigning for the Michigan Democratic Party.

Molly Swint is a junior studying advertising management and public relations. She recently studied abroad this fall in Wales, U.K. at Swansea University. She interned as the public relations editor for a small, Michigan-based nonprofit, and is a member of PRSSA, MSUSND, SAGA and CHAARGE. She aspires to be a public relations specialist in healthcare, travel or athletics.

Akash Vaghasia is a junior studying advertising management. He plans to go into sales and marketing after finishing his undergraduate degree. In his free time, he loves to play his Xbox and watch a variety of movies and TV shows.

Alexis Clemons is a senior studying advertising management and sports business management. She aspires to work in the sports and entertainment industry as a publicist.

Hunter DeNicolo portrait

Hunter DeNicolo is a senior studying advertising management. Since transferring from UofM-Flint, he has thoroughly enjoyed his coursework surrounding media impacts and research. Outside of his studies, he enjoys distance running, concerts and spending time with his grandparents.

Emily Hobrla is a senior studying professional writing with an editing focus, and hopes to be an editor at a publishing company in the near future. She is excited to become more familiar with the fields of AD+PR while working on The Brief. Outside of school, her interests include fashion, tennis and squirrel-watching.

Vanessa Noble is a comparative cultures & politics senior. Her interests include social media influence, beauty/fashion for people of color, and eating interesting food in interesting places. When she graduates in May 2020, she wants to move to a big city with her cat and live a posh life as a social media specialist.

Mark Pipp is an advertising management student with minors in public relations, and entrepreneurship and innovation. He graduates in the spring of 2020 and plans to go into public relations. He also enjoys hiking, camping and being outdoors.

Emily Ryal is a senior communications major, graduating December 2019. She plans to stay in the mid-Michigan area after graduation and hopes to apply her Public Relations Minor to help organizations achieve their goals.

Nick Schuller portrait

Nick Schuller is a senior studying advertising management with a minor in public relations. Schuller plans on joining an ad agency where his work can make an impact straight out of school. When he’s not forgetting to dot his i’s, you can catch Schuller reading a work of fiction or yelling at his Xbox.

Kala Watson portrait

Kala Watson is a junior studying advertising management with a double minor in public relations, and entrepreneurship and innovation. She is currently gaining experience with content marketing for social media within AD+PR. Once she completes her undergraduate degree, Watson wants to continue her education by pursuing a master’s in music business and public relations. She vows to one day own a music PR firm and represent the music artist’s images.
